1. Who we are (data controller)

2. Your reminders

Knot creates reminders in the Apple Reminders app on your device using Apple's EventKit. The content of your reminders (titles, notes, times) stays on your device and in your own Apple Reminders / iCloud account. Knot has no servers of its own: we do not receive, sync or log the content of your reminders. You can withdraw Knot's access to Reminders and notifications in iOS Settings at any time.

3. Dictation (Knot Pro)

With Knot Pro you can say a reminder instead of typing it. Your voice is turned into text by Apple’s speech recognition, which needs your permission for the microphone and for speech recognition. Depending on your device and language, Apple may process the audio on its servers under the Apple Privacy Policy. We do not receive or store the audio. You can withdraw these permissions in iOS Settings at any time.

4. Analytics (with your consent)

Knot uses analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve it. Analytics is switched off until you agree in the prompt Knot shows on first launch; if you choose “Don’t Allow”, nothing is sent to these providers. You can change your choice any time in the app menu (“analytics: on / off”).

Google Firebase Analytics

App usage events (e.g. app opens, screens, feature use, purchase events), session counts and duration, device model, OS and app version, language, approximate location from a truncated IP address, and a random app-instance identifier. Knot does not collect the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not set a user ID. Provider: Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC; transfers outside the EEA rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses.

Microsoft Clarity

Clarity records how you use the app: a reconstruction of screens and your taps and scrolling (session recordings), heatmaps, a random user identifier, device and OS information and approximate location from your IP address. Knot hides the text you type and your list of reminders in recordings, and according to Microsoft notifications and the keyboard are not recorded. Recordings are kept about 30 days (selected ones up to 9 months) according to Microsoft. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

5. Purchases and subscriptions (Apple and Adapty)

Knot is free to start (up to 3 reminders per day) and offers an optional auto-renewing subscription, Knot Pro (yearly, $39.99 / year in the United States; the local price is shown in the app before purchase), which unlocks unlimited reminders, dictation and hourly repeats. There is no free trial. Purchases are processed by Apple; we do not receive your payment card details. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the period; manage or cancel in your Apple ID account settings.

To manage subscriptions and unlock Pro we use Adapty (Adapty Technologies Inc., USA). Adapty processes your App Store purchase receipt / transaction and subscription status (purchase history), a random profile identifier, device and app information (model, OS version, app version, language, region derived from IP). Knot does not collect or pass the advertising identifier (IDFA). We do not set a user ID, email or name in Adapty. Adapty acts as our processor; see the Adapty Privacy Policy. Legal basis: performance of a contract and our legitimate interest in validating purchases.

6. What we do not do

We do not sell your personal data, do not use it for advertising and do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Knot contains no advertising SDKs and no attribution integrations. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

7. Legal bases (GDPR Art. 6)

• Analytics (Firebase, Clarity): consent, Art. 6(1)(a). You may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future.
• Providing the app, Pro and subscriptions: performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b).
• Security, abuse prevention, legal claims, purchase validation: legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f).

8. Retention

Analytics data according to the providers' settings (Google Analytics for Firebase: the retention period set for the property, by default 2 months; Clarity: about 30 days for recordings). Purchase records (Adapty, Apple) as long as needed to provide Pro and as required by law. Reminder content: not held by us.

9. International transfers

Google, Microsoft and Adapty may process data outside the EEA (including the USA) on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, objection, and to withdraw consent at any time. Write to hello@vimageapp.com. Because analytics data is linked only to random identifiers, please tell us roughly when and on which device you used Knot, so we can try to find your data. You may complain to your supervisory authority; in Hungary: Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság (NAIH), naih.hu.

We may update this policy; the date above shows the latest version. Material changes will be notified in the app.
